Medical Interventions for Hypnosis Births PDF Print E-mail

Research based evidence shows us that when effective hypnosis techniques are practiced and used during birth, the result is a natural, peaceful birth.  Statistics show that the birth is much shorter, easier, there are less drugs, less interventions, and healthier outcomes.  See article about birth using hypnosis.

Statistics have shown that the key to the difference in how the birth unfolds, is in how the expectant couple prepares for the birth.  Mothers who learn methods for relaxed birth have:

  • shorter labors
  • decreased need for medication
  • decreased need for interventions
  • more feelings of calm, confidence, alertness, and control
  • fewer complications
  • faster recovery
  • happier, healthier babies!

Typical hypnosis birth statistics are the following:

  • 90% no intervention
  • 5% scattered membrane rupture, inductions, etc
  • 5% C section

These teachings do not preclude the use of medical intervention.   Sometimes it is the choice of the parents to use the technology that is available.  The key here is that it is a choice, and that the parent has made every decision from a place of calm.  They leave the hospital knowing they did everything just the right way for them.  It is also important to consider that if an anesthetic is chosen, and when the relaxation from the hypnosis is already in place, the amount of anesthetic needed is reduced.
